Department Introduction

Local government institutions are of great importance in the efficient, effective and productive execution of public services. In order to increase the quality of service delivery by Local Governments, a number of reforms are being carried out both in our country and in other countries. With globalization, the changing relations between the local and the center and the ongoing regulations in the legal infrastructure keep the subject of Local Governments up to date and increase its importance.

In the light of all these developments, Local Government departments/programs in universities are very important in meeting the increasing need for qualified personnel in such institutions.

Post-Graduation Career Areas

The Local Government program has an education-training curriculum that lasts 2 years (four semesters). At the end of two years, students who have passed all their courses, have a general grade point average of over 2.00, and have received and achieved a total of 120 ECTS credits, successfully graduate from the program. If they wish, our students can also receive undergraduate education by transferring to the “Public Administration”, “Political Science and Public Administration”, “Political Science” and “Local Administration” departments of the faculties with the DGS exam.

Students who graduate from our program have a wide range of options to enter business life directly. Our graduates have wide range of job opportunities in various departments of public institutions and organizations such as Metropolitan Municipalities, Provincial and District Municipalities, Governorships, District Governorships, Special Provincial Administrations, etc. Additionally, there are many work opportunities in the private sector.
