Department Introduction
As a result of
the developments in the Turkish economy in the last 20 years, at least one
shopping mall (AVM) has been established in every province of our country,
especially in the metropolitan cities, and hundreds of chain stores have been
opened within these shopping malls, providing services suitable for every
budget, which has created a need for intermediate staff to be employed in these
stores. Although employers and store managers try to meet some of the staff
they need from high school graduates, they prefer to employ vocational school
graduates who have received training in their field and have the opportunity to
get to know the retail sector in practice before they graduate with their
compulsory internships. In this field, which continues to survive and grow
thanks to the expanding retail sector, the need for sales staff to be employed
not only in metropolitan cities but also in shopping malls and sole
proprietorships that have opened and will continue to open all over Turkey. In
addition, graduates who successfully complete the Retail Sales and Store
Management Associate Degree Program will be employed in sales, store management
and marketing positions in shopping malls, multi-storey stores, supermarkets
and hypermarkets, as retail stores. In this context, it is a necessity to open
a Retail Sales and Store Management Program in the associate degree programs of
universities. For this purpose, in order to respond to these needs that arise
in the economy, the Retail Sales and Store Management program has been opened
and has a quota of 30 students serving in the first education.
