Department Introduction

As a result of the developments in the Turkish economy in the last 20 years, at least one shopping mall (AVM) has been established in every province of our country, especially in the metropolitan cities, and hundreds of chain stores have been opened within these shopping malls, providing services suitable for every budget, which has created a need for intermediate staff to be employed in these stores. Although employers and store managers try to meet some of the staff they need from high school graduates, they prefer to employ vocational school graduates who have received training in their field and have the opportunity to get to know the retail sector in practice before they graduate with their compulsory internships. In this field, which continues to survive and grow thanks to the expanding retail sector, the need for sales staff to be employed not only in metropolitan cities but also in shopping malls and sole proprietorships that have opened and will continue to open all over Turkey. In addition, graduates who successfully complete the Retail Sales and Store Management Associate Degree Program will be employed in sales, store management and marketing positions in shopping malls, multi-storey stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets, as retail stores. In this context, it is a necessity to open a Retail Sales and Store Management Program in the associate degree programs of universities. For this purpose, in order to respond to these needs that arise in the economy, the Retail Sales and Store Management program has been opened and has a quota of 30 students serving in the first education.

The Purpose and Objectives of the Program

The aim of the program is to train sales representatives to work in retail businesses and private businesses at all levels. Those who complete the Store Management and Sales Representative program are assigned with the title of "Store Management and Sales Representative Occupation Element". Graduates will receive an associate degree - Store Manager and Sales Representative title.  The store manager is the person responsible for the effective and efficient execution of retail activities to meet human needs and demands. The store manager carries out the planning, organization, execution, coordination and supervision of the activities required to achieve business objectives. The Sales Representative is a person who sells economic goods and services face to face, and not only does sales work, but also provides consultancy to customers and follows them up after sales, and produces special solutions for customers.

Post-Graduation Career Areas

Graduates who successfully complete the Retail Sales and Store Management Associate’s Degree Program will be employed in sales, store management and marketing positions in shopping malls, sole proprietorships, multi-storey stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets.
